Exhibited at the Art Gallery of the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV 2026), curated by Luba Elliott and Ioannis Siglidis.
The piece looks like a particle simulation: matter swarms, disperses, grows and dissolves. But there is no physics solver behind it. Every movement is produced by diffusion models that have learned what this kind of motion looks like, not by computing forces and collisions. The source material is my own botanical photography, so the abstract particles still carry traces of real organic structure.
The work invites the viewer to recognise a familiar computational aesthetic and then question it: what looks like simulation is something else entirely.
